We won 1st Place in the Hepsor Päevälja Next Phase Architectural Competition!
The architectural proposal by LUMIA won the architectural competition organized by real estate developer Hepsor for the next phase of the Paevälja residential quarter. According to the jury, the winning design stood out for its flexible spatial planning, environmentally fitting architecture, and strong emphasis on greenery.
According to Mihkel Mäger, Head of Hepsor Estonia and chairman of the jury, the competition sought a solution that would create high-quality and contemporary urban space in Lasnamäe. A total of six entries were submitted for the architectural competition covering the residential area and surrounding site at Narva Road 150 and 150A. Four invited architectural offices participated: molumba OÜ, KAMP Arhitektid OÜ, Arhitekt11 OÜ, and Arhitektuuribüroo Korrus OÜ, in addition to LUMIA and inphysica technology.
According to the jury, the greatest strength of LUMIA’s winning proposal was its exceptionally well-designed standard floor plan, which enables flexible apartment layouts and modularity while carefully considering the expectations of future residents of Lasnamäe. The jury also highlighted the light-filled corner living rooms, the ceremonial and clearly identifiable entrances, and the balanced spatial relationship between the buildings and landscaping.
LUMIA’s proposal presented a contemporary urban quarter where architectural quality, affordability, and community-oriented public space come together. At the center of the design is the human experience — movement, privacy, social interaction, and an everyday connection between nature and the city.
The authors of the LUMIA proposal are Margit Aule, Rasmus Ink, and Andreas Krigoltoi. Laura Ojala and Carl Deion Jõekallas also contributed to the project.
